How new does concrete need to be — or not be — before coating?

Fresh concrete needs to cure before it can be coated; typical guidance is around 28 days, though we verify moisture rather than relying only on age. Older slabs are fine too, provided the surface is sound after grinding and any defects are repaired.

Our builder left the garage slab smooth and sealed. Is that a problem?

Not a problem, but it does need to be addressed. Hard-troweled and sealed slabs are too closed for a coating to bond to. Diamond grinding removes the sealer and opens the profile so the base coat can key into the concrete.

Can you coat the garage before we move in?

That is often the ideal time — the slab is empty and clean, so preparation and installation move quickly and nothing has to be relocated.

Do you also coat the driveway apron by the garage door?

The apron sits in full sun and weather, so it needs an exterior-appropriate system rather than interior garage products. We can quote it alongside the garage.
